LOCATION: Electrical and Computer Engineering

STARTING HOURLY RATE: $11.23 – $15.93 hourly, depending upon education and experience, GD

POSITION PURPOSE: Provides secretarial support to the Electrical and Computer Engineering department. Duties include assisting the faculty, staff and students; department recordkeeping, including maintaining and assisting with compilation of records and reports; coordinating meetings and appointments; maintaining financial accounting records; processing purchase requisitions; assisting with department tours, fundraising activities and events; hiring and supervising student employees; copying, scanning, filing and processing mail; answering and directing incoming phone calls; greeting and assisting walk-in inquiries from faculty, staff and visitors; and other duties as assigned.


Knowledge of:
•English, including grammar, spelling and punctuation;
•modern office equipment practices and procedures;
•basic bookkeeping;
•computer software applications including Microsoft Office products.

Ability to:
•communicate information clearly and concisely in person, in writing and/or on the telephone, exercising tact, patience, discretion and professional demeanor;
•establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships, interacting in a supportive manner with faculty, staff, students and visitors;
•read, comprehend, gather, prepare and summarize data from a variety of sources;
•type accurately, be detail orientated, handle multiple tasks, work independently, prioritize accordingly and meet strict deadlines;
•lift and carry boxes or supplies (under 20 lbs.);
•organize and coordinate activities;
•keep and maintain accurate records;
•use a computer, copy machine and other office equipment;
•maintain confidentiality;
•provide excellent customer service.

COMMENTS: Valid driver’s license is required.
