A post-doctoral position (0-2 yrs experience) is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Brian Burrell ( in the Division of Basic Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Dakota. The project focus is on modulation of synaptic transmission by endocannabinoids related to nociception. A PhD with experience in electrophysiology is required as well as a willingness to work with invertebrate model systems (research in the Burrell lab uses Hirudo verbana). Experience with molecular biology techniques is also desirable. This is a division funded position with funding available for two years with extensions contingent on future funding. In addition to research experience (developing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, writing peer-reviewed manuscripts), opportunities for professional development (mentor training, opportunities to teach, etc.) will also be provided.
