The Department of Humanities at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for Instructor, Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer position(s) in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical Communication, or related field beginning fall 2018. We anticipate filling one or more positions in a non-major educational environment that emphasizes written, oral, and group communication skills for engineering and science students. Expectations for the position include teaching composition and technical communication courses with additional opportunities to offer humanities or communication courses appropriate to the candidate’s experience and university requirements. The standard teaching load is 5/5. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical Communication, or a related field; and a record of successful teaching at the university level. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in the appropriate discipline and experience teaching composition and technical communication in the sciences and engineering. This is a nine-month, non-tenure-track, term position with possibility of renewal of appointment dependent upon performance and department need.
