The Division of Education, Counseling and Human Development at South Dakota State University invites applications for Associate Director of Teacher Education and Accreditation/Associate/Assistant Professor. The Associate Director of Teacher Education will be responsible for providing leadership of the CAEP accreditation process and for assessment and data collection across the teacher education and educational administration program areas. This is a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track, benefit-eligible appointment with a 50% administrative and 50% teaching/research workload with a rank of Assistant or Associate Professor depending on qualifications. The option for summer contract work will be assessed based on needs of the division. The position reports to the Director of the Division of Education, Counseling and Human Development. The position begins in August 2021.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordination and implementation of all assessment measures including those in the Common Indicator Systems Network, to which we belong.
• Working with the division director and dean to maintain and strengthen collaborations with faculty and administrators in all 18 teacher certification programs across campus and will ensure that all programs are providing common assessment data as required by our national accrediting body, the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation [CAEP].
• Providing leadership of the CAEP accreditation process and for assessment and data collection across the teacher education and educational administration program areas.
• Teaching two-three graduate/undergraduate education classes per year.
• Conducting a focused line of scholarly activity appropriate to teacher education or educational leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Terminal degree in education or very closely related field by start date.
• Eligible for faculty rank at the assistant or associate professor level.
• Demonstrated experience with assessment and data collection.
• Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff across multiple disciplines within teacher education.
• Ability to provide leadership of accreditation and assessment work.
• Record of research publications proportionate with experience.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching.
• Evidence of effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Effective written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with CAEP accreditation.
• Experience with the Common Indicators Systems Network (or equivalent).
• Teaching experience in higher education.
