Facility Worker

Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time facility worker. This position will work an 8 hour shift Monday through Friday with some weekends as needed to help with preparation/clean-up for events on campus. The start time for the shift could vary between 5:00am – 8:00am depending on staffing needs and applicant availability. Primary responsibilities include custodial care and minor maintenance for buildings on the DSU campus. Duties will include floor care consisting of vacuuming, shampooing carpets, scrubbing, mopping, waxing and polishing floors. This position will also clean and sanitize restrooms, dust and wash walls, woodwork and windows, collect and remove trash from buildings, remove snow from steps and sidewalks during winter and perform minor maintenance functions as needed. Additional responsibilities will include some painting, moving furniture and checking equipment as necessary.

The successful applicant must be able to:
1. Follow written and oral instructions
2. Operate required equipment
3. Work with students, staff, and the public courteously
4. Work independently
5. Lift up to 50 pounds regularly
6. Maintain a valid driver’s license
