South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension Food & Families Program 
is offering an exciting career opportunity as a Field and Community Health Field Specialist III. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us in providing strong regional and statewide leadership through research-based programming. This is a 12 month, full-time, benefit eligible position. This position is supervised by the Food and Families Program Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for taking a scholarly approach in providing regional and statewide leadership in support of efforts that strengthen the health of individuals, families, schools, and communities. This position will provide direct supervision to the EFNEP and SNAP-ED programs that focus on direct education, policy, systems, and environmental changes in SD communities; initiate visionary and strategic goals for innovative programs and outreach initiatives that impact the Capstone as well as the EFNEP and SNAP-ED programs; and provide leadership in establishing collaborations, identifying and developing funding proposals to support new and/or enhanced programming within and/or across capstone areas will be expected of this position. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s Degree from an accredited university or college; academic preparation and demonstrated scholarly mastery in a discipline relevant to Family and Community Health such as Nutrition, Exercise Science, Nursing, Health Promotion, Human Services, or other closely related field to be completed by date of application; 
• At least five years of discipline related experience; 
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences; 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; 
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills; 
• Strong interpersonal skills; 
• Ability to work as a contributing team member; 
• Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs; 
• Demonstrated ability or potential to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials and direct effective programs; 
• Documented scholarly contributions in curriculum development and programmatic products; 
• Demonstrated ability with program budgets or accounting procedures; 
• Previous experience with grants or obtaining funding sources; 
• At least one year of management or supervisory experience; 
• Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous experience working with Extension; 
• Demonstrated leadership in developing or leading a SNAP-ED and/or EFNEP program; 
• Demonstrated collaboration in developing funding proposals to support new and/or enhanced programming; 
• Experience working and/or managing volunteers;
