| Posting Text | The Department of Physical Therapy, School of Health Sciences at the University of South Dakota is seeking a highly qualified individual for a 12-month tenure-track position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Physical Therapy. The successful candidate joins a collaborative faculty team of physical therapist educators dedicated to its program mission to “develop practitioners and life-long learners who provide evidence based physical therapist services throughout the patient lifespan and demonstrate leadership within rural and medically underserved practice environments.” Qualifications Qualified candidates possess a DPT degree and experience working in clinics and settings with a neurological clientele caseload. Ideal candidates will hold board certification as a clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy or an advanced academic degree. Teaching expectations include neuro rehabilitation content. The preferred candidate will join a team of 9 tenure track academic faculty lines with complementary backgrounds and areas of clinical expertise. The program is located in a state-of-the-art facility located adjacent to the Dakota Dome in USD’s Sports Performance Enhancement Complex (https://tour.usd.edu/scsc/). Candidates should demonstrate a passion for teaching. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to actively engage in research as well as clinical and service activities consistent with the Department’s formal faculty expectations and scholarly productivity guidelines. The Program The Department of Physical Therapy, within the School of Health Sciences, is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education. The Department is committed to academic excellence and its core faculty strive as leaders in physical therapist education to use compassion, interactive instruction, and interprofessional education to develop the next generation of physical therapists. The selected candidate for this position can anticipate a supportive, collaborative environment with manageable class sizes of 32 DPT students per cohort. The Campus The University is located on an attractive 274-acre campus in Vermillion, a small community nestled along the bluffs above the Missouri River in the southeast corner of South Dakota.
