The Electrical Engineering (EE) department at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, benefited, tenure-track position in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor, with the anticipated start date of January 2022 or August 2022.  An earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required. 

The Electrical Engineering department invites outstanding applicants who demonstrate expertise or exceptional potential in leading a vibrant, externally funded, scholarly research program.  The broad electrical engineering areas of interest include, but are not limited to, applied electromagnetics, communications & computer networks, analog/digital electronic circuits and systems, flexible/printed/power electronics, electronic materials, signals and systems, Internet of Things (IoT), and power & energy systems.  Candidates must have a vision defining their research plan in these rapidly evolving fields.  Exceptional candidates with other research interests will also be considered.  

The successful candidate is expected to secure and lead externally funded research and perform scholarly activities, teach state-of-the-art undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in service activities as assigned.

 The EE department offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, as well as graduate Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Electrical Engineering.  The EE Department has research focuses in areas including, but not limited to, applied electromagnetics, antennas & communications, optimization & controls, sensors, wireless communications, robotics & autonomous systems, and power & energy systems.  In its 2021 rankings, Study.com puts SD Mines in the top 10 best electrical engineering degree programs in the nation.  The graduate program in electrical engineering ranked 24th among the best electrical engineering programs offered nationwide by CollegeChoice.net in 2018.  Faculty members are also actively involved in a variety of interdisciplinary research projects across the campus.  More information is available at the department website, www.sdsmt.edu/EE.
