The University of South Dakota’s (USD) Beacom School of Business seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics, beginning Fall 2018. The successful candidate must be academically qualified to teach both a variety of undergraduate economics courses, including principles and managerial economics, as well as graduate courses in managerial economics. The successful candidate is expected to bring a unique and innovative educational experience to students through classroom teaching and mentorship. As such, there is the opportunity for student engagement through mentoring student activities outside the classroom. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes on the main campus in Vermillion, SD, online, or in Sioux Falls, SD, the School’s major off-campus site. Duties include teaching, engaging in related scholarly research, and service for USD, the Beacom School of Business, profession, and broader community.

Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Economics is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong teaching and research/scholarship interests that are aligned with economics program in business school. Candidates must be willing to teach courses in both traditional and online environments. Other requirements are proficiency in oral and written communication, and dedication to engagement, service, and the public good. Candidates with experience working with diverse students, staff, and faculty are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. from AACSB accredited business school. The best applicant will have a primary area of teaching in managerial economics with a secondary area of teaching in principles of economics and another economics subfield. Related business experience is preferred. Also preferred is a scholarly interest that complements the position’s teaching fields.
