Job Responsibilities: Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of the plumbing, heating, cooling and sewer systems on campus and the farm departments; complete remodel projects according to the blueprints while working closely with the engineering staff; work closely with the City of Brookings utility departments to maintain the utility service to campus; maintain kitchen equipment for food service; maintain all campus distribution and collection systems and equipment; and respond to campus utility system problems, including after hours or weekends.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of: Plumbing maintenance, materials, tools and methods; appropriate installation and repair techniques; functions of various plumbing, heating and cooling systems; and computer software applications.

Ability to: Perform the installation or modification of plumbing and heating systems for remodeling projects; install plumbing and heating products and equipment; install, repair or replace heating and cooling systems; perform maintenance, repair or replacement of campus water and sewer systems; work independently with minimum supervision; work on steam, water and sewer system breaks in open trenches; work in confined areas or from heights; lift and carry up to 75 pounds; work in extreme temperature changes; and communicate clearly and concisely.

Required License: Valid driver’s license is required. Plumber Journeyman’s license or ability to obtain one within one (1) year of employment is required.

Comments: This position is classified as a Building Maintenance Specialist. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
