The Graduate Recruitment Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements the Graduate School recruitment plans, interactions with prospective students and employers seeking educational opportunities for their employees, interacts with graduate programs and other campus recruiters, and related initiatives to promote and increase enrollment in USD’s graduate and professional programs.

The Coordinator will work with graduate departments and Continuing & Distance Education to streamline the application and admission processes. The Coordinator will be expected to meet specified timelines to develop and facilitate university-wide processes that integrate graduate recruiting from point of inquiry through application and admission.

Position requirements:
1. Four year college degree is required. Graduate degree is strongly preferred.
2. Ability to travel to graduate fairs and other outreach activities in the state and region.
3. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully both verbally and in writing with multiple constituents.
4. Effective problem solving skills and the ability to manage multiple job related tasks with minimal supervision.

Department Description and Cultural Expectations

The Division of Continuing and Distance Education serves graduate, off-campus and distance education students interested in exploring fields of study and those pursuing higher education through the University of South Dakota. The organization also provides oversight for testing online students and those using commerical tests such as the MPRE, LSAT, etc., special programs for adult learners and bridge programs. Off-campus and distance learners study at off-campus centers and through online (computer-mediated instruction and collaboration with other students and faculty), and web-conference study. Students are full-time and part-time, graduate and undergraduate, and/or degree seeking and non-degree seeking. CDE has an increasing national reach and serves students throughout the United States and internationally.

Continuing and Distance Education (CDE) has become a major contributor to USD, complimenting on-campus programs well. USD’s online courses and programs have experienced high demand in recent years. As a result, CDE has been characterized by significant growth.

CDE collaborates with academic units to offer educational experiences which provide students with authentic learning and advance student’s knowledge and skill through high-quality programs.
