Dakota State University ( is accepting applications for an information systems instructor (non-tenure-track) position for the College of Business and Information Systems with a start date of Fall Semester, 2018. The candidates will be expected to teach and advise students at the DSU campus in Madison and online.
The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in information systems or a related field, with preference given to candidates with an earned PhD or equivalent degree in information systems or related field. Additional qualifications include demonstrated excellence in training or teaching at the secondary level. Candidates must have exceptional written and verbal skills and the ability to incorporate technology into teaching and learning, as well as a desire to advise and mentor students outside of the classroom. Experience with online teaching is preferred and practical information systems experience is a plus.
Primary teaching assignments of this position will be undergraduate information systems courses which may include programming, systems analysis, database or data analytics courses based on the candidate’s qualifications and the university needs.

The College of Business and Information Systems offers a baccalaureate in computer information systems (CIS) with specializations in data science, project management, and software and web development, as well as a major in computer education (in conjunction with the College of Education) and a number of IS related minors and certificates. DSU is accredited through the AQIP process of the Higher Learning Commission and, to support its institutional accreditation, the university emphasizes continuous quality improvement in its institutional decision-making process.

DSU is located in Madison, South Dakota in the southern lakes region of the state. The area offers a healthy community, excellent schools and abundant recreational activities, and is located 45 minutes from Sioux Falls, the state’s largest and fastest-growing city.
