SDSU is a thriving and growing land-grant university with a rich tradition of hands-on learning and material practice. Located in Brookings, a nurturing and charming college town north of Sioux Falls and west of Minneapolis, SDSU is set in a rich fabric of small cities eager to embrace innovative and smart design practice and culture.

Landscape Architecture at SDSU is nested within the School of Design collaborative structure, along with programs in Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, and Studio Arts. Collectively, School faculty form a collaborative teaching and research environment that values cross-program and interdisciplinary initiatives.

The Landscape Architecture Program celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015, and is in the middle of the initial accreditation process. The Program enrolls 60 students with the mandate of growing to 80+ students in the next few years. Our focus is on practicable landscape architecture and imbuing students with a solid understanding of the relationship between studio and site.
