Dakota State University is actively seeking applications for a Director of Career Services. The Director of Career Services is primarily responsible for the overall management and leadership of the career services program. This includes acting as a liaison between potential employers and students and/or alumni, and providing outcome support for students. We are looking for someone to provide vision, strategic planning and implementation of all career services functions that serve DSU graduates and current students.

The Director of DSU Career Services will be responsible to market all aspects of the Career Services program to the DSU community including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Other responsibilities include monitoring and tracking all outcomes of students and provide annual reports on outcome data. Along with other members of the Career Services staff, provide presentations/workshops, to students on various topics relevant to career services. Examples include, but are not limited to, soft skill development, interviewing techniques, resume writing, networking, social setting etiquette, career fairs, etc. The successful candidate should be able to keep current on job trends, avenues of enhancing job search techniques, and develop employer relations. Employer relations would include building and growing the number of employer relationships as well as maintaining a positive working relationship with all current employers. At DSU the Director of Career Services serves as a member of the student affairs leadership team with the responsibility for the learning and development of students outside the classroom and helping to establish a university culture that is keenly aware of the importance of a successful student experience.

The incumbent for this position will hold a minimum of a master’s degree in college student personnel, counseling, education or related field. In addition, we are looking for someone with experience working with college students in career services and have a proven record of managing an effective career services program. We are looking for someone with exceptional written and communication skills, who has the ability to make presentations, counsel/teach students the skills and abilities needed for a successful job & internship search, interact with a variety of DSU constituencies, including faculty, staff, students and alumni.
