The Department of Psychology at South Dakota State University invites applicants for a temporary, nine month Instructor appointment beginning in August 2018 with the possibility of summer teaching in August 2019. Continuing appointment will be based on performance and funding. We seek an outstanding teacher who will complement our dedicated and collaborative faculty.

Primary responsibilities include teaching four undergraduate courses per semester that will include various combinations of: General Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Health Psychology, and Psychological Therapies, in addition to other needed classes. The successful applicant will be expected to teach with a variety of effective pedagogical and technological teaching methods. Limited departmental service is also expected.

- Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field completed by beginning date of employment.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

- Degree in Clinical or School Psychology preferred.
- Prior teaching experience with online courses.
- Experience with undergraduate teaching.
- Experience or ability to teach the following courses: General, Abnormal, Health, and Therapies.

SDSU is a land grant institution and the state’s largest institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 12,600 students. The Department of Psychology is an undergraduate program with approximately 275 majors, seven tenured or tenure-track faculty, and two instructor-level faculty members. SDSU is located in Brookings, South Dakota, a community of approximately 22,100 near the east central border of South Dakota on Interstate 29. The city has an excellent K-12 education system, is accessible to major medical facilities, has an active cultural and social environment, and has numerous lakes and parks within driving distance. It is 50 miles north of Sioux Falls, a city of about 178,500.
