Northern State University invites applications for a 12-month, CSA position as a Communications Network Analyst. The essential responsibility of this position is to support the videoconferencing and audiovisual technologies utilized in the delivery of courses from the Center for Statewide E-learning (CSEL) to enhance both the student and teacher experience. In addition, this position will provide audiovisual and videoconferencing technical support to end-users both in person and remotely, and work closely with Digital Dakota Network (DDN) staff to support daily videoconference connections between NSU CSEL teachers and students.
Responsibilities:
1) Demonstrate excellent customer service and professionalism daily, including the ability to interact positively with internal and external clients through effective written and oral communication;
2) Possess a good working knowledge of the following principles and subject areas:
a. Installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of audiovisual and computer equipment and presentation software;
b. Data, audio, and video communications protocols and interconnections, including terminations;
c. Web media streaming technologies, including client and server configuration;
3) Assist Director of Media Services in designing A/V solutions for NSU learning and meeting spaces.
4) Troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems proficiently;
5) Work effectively as an integral part of a team environment, and think strategically with regard to integration of new processes and technologies into daily team workflows;
6) Organize, manage, and work on multiple priority projects and possess strong self-management skills;
7) Actively seek out professional development opportunities and desire to continuously enhance technical skills and expertise;
8) Collaborate with other NSU Center for Statewide E-learning and NET Services team members in support of end-user technical needs;
9) Supervise a team of student employees, including Technology Fellow, Workstudy, and Student Labor positions.
10) Possess a valid and current driver license as there is occasional overnight travel;
11) Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director of Media Services.
Qualified applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mass Communications, Media Production, or a closely related field. Applicants must have the ability to distinguish wire colors and lift up to 50 pounds. Applicants should have recent professional experience installing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting audiovisual technologies. Experience with hardware-based videoconference systems and audiovisual control systems such as Crestron, Extron, or AMX is preferred.
