Dakota State University invites applications for a 12-month CSA position as an Information Technology Specialist. This position will support existing university and system-wide administrative applications and will assist in the development and implementation of new or improved applications. Software systems include; student, human resources, finance, admission, financial aid, recruitment, resource scheduling and related systems.

The incumbent will work on all phases of information systems development including consultation for project requirement definition, specification development, process design, application coding and testing, output generation, documentation, training, and implementation of projects requested by university personnel.

The successful candidate must be able be capable of being a project leader for the management, development and implementation of projects. Other duties will include working with team members to analyze, trouble-shoot, and resolve reported problems, run routine processes to generate reports or data downloads for user departments and test new or enhanced functions to system software applications.

This position will assist in supporting the data analysis and internal and external reporting requirements of the university. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of database design and applications, such as Oracle, and an extensive knowledge of SQL. Knowledge of other programming languages, such as SAS and Cognos, are encouraged but not required.

The incumbent must exhibit excellent customer service base with the ability to interact positively with internal and external clients with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The incumbent should be able to organize, manage, and work on multiple priorities with strong self-management skills.

A bachelor’s degree in computer or programming discipline or related field (equivalent training and experience may be considered) and 2-3 years of demonstrated programming experience, preferably in a higher education academic environment.
