Black Hills State University’s Office of Admissions seeks applicants for an Assistant Director of Admissions position.

This individual must be motivated with demonstrated leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. This position will promote Black Hills State to prospective students, families, schools and the community while managing staff and on-campus projects.

The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated and works well both individually and cooperatively in a team environment. This individual will possess outstanding communication and customer service skills along with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and across cultures. This is a professional staff, twelve-month position with benefits that requires seasonal overnight travel and weekends. A minimum of forty hours per week plus additional hours as necessary during peak times.

DUTIES:
•Oversees the admissions office in the absence of the Director
•Meeting enrollment goals for assigned recruitment territory
•Represents and promotes the University at high schools, college fairs, community events and
other outreach events
•Trains, manages and supervises recruitment staff and provides ongoing training for continued
enrollment growth
•Plans, organizes and supervises university recruitment projects and events
•Speaking publicly to individuals and groups on and off campus
•Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding national and regional recruitment trends as well
as challenges unique to BHSU
•Monitors all daily/weekly/monthly admission activities to ensure consistent reporting
•Maintains knowledge about the academic requirements and student learning outcomes of all
programs offered by the University and effectively communicates such information to
admissions representatives, prospective students and other interested persons
•Provides technical expertise and coaching to admissions representatives on a daily basis
•Conducts regular one-on-one coaching sessions with the admissions representatives
•Provides timely and accurate record-keeping for leadership and produces other reports as
needed
•Serves as a role model for the admissions representatives in support of the mission of BHSU
•Assist with data entry during peak times as needed
•Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree required
•Minimum of 1 year of leadership/supervisory experience preferred
•Minimum of two years of directly job-related experience preferred
•The ability to work occasional evening and weekends as needed is required
•Valid driver’s license

Black Hills State University is a masters-level state University with 4,500 students.
