The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for a tenure-track position in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering with the anticipated start date of fall semester 2018. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and research interest in: Intelligent Robotics and Collaborative Robotics, Human Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Vehicles, Cyber Security, Internet-of-Things (IoT), Big Data and Machine learning. Exceptional candidates with other research interests will also be considered.

A doctorate in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is looking for outstanding candidates with a proven record for or demonstrate exceptional potential and vision for leading an independent and vibrant funded scholarly graduate research program. Candidates with exceptional active funded research programs can be considered at the Associate Professor level. Successful candidates are expected to initiate and/or sustain an active externally sponsored research program. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department provides an outstanding innovative learning environment for students, thus applicants should demonstrate an interest and commitment to excellence in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses with an interest or expertise in technology assisted or online teaching, advise students, and engage in service activities as assigned. Previous university teaching, process design and/or other industrial experiences are highly desirable as well as a strong record of multi-disciplinary collaboration.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department offers two ABET-accredited undergraduate degrees, B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Computer Engineering. The department also offers Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and is one of the founding members of the new campus professional Master of Engineering program. In the ECE Department, faculty leads research in the areas including robotics and autonomous systems, control systems, communications and networking, computer vision, machine learning, and cyber security.
