Department of Chemistry and the Center for Fluorinated Functional Materials at the University of South Dakota is seeking a full time NMR/MS specialist who will be mainly responsible for characterization of advanced fluorinated functional materials. The tasks include but not limit to:

1) Utilization of current solid state NMR probe for materials characterization. This requires the specialist to work on implement and optimization pulse programs and optimize parameters of the solid state NMR experiments.
2) Development, optimization, and implement of advanced 2D NMR experiments for the investigation of intermolecular interactions.
3) Utilization of current LC-MS spectrometer for quality control purpose of the new materials.
4) Training users on the usage of solid state NMR, advanced 2D NMR, and VT NMR experiments.
5) Working closely with faculty members within the Chemistry Department to develop a new NSF instrumentation proposal for acquisition of an advanced MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer.
6) Working with both Chemistry Faculty and Medical School Faculty to develop a proposal for acquisition of a small animal MRI imaging.

Minimum requirement PhD in chemistry. Postdoc experience is preferred. Experience with solid state NMR experiments.

This position is grant funded, and continuation is subject to availability of grant funds and performance. Review of applications will being February 15, 2018 and continue until the position is filled.
