Black Hills State University seeks applicants for a Child Care Worker – One Year Old Teacher.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide a safe, fun and stimulating environment for children in a child care setting. Requires planning lessons and providing age appropriate activities to enhance social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Daily activities include diapering children, assisting with potty training and lifting up to 25 pounds.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:
*Basic child development needs and early childhood development practices
*English, grammar, spelling and punctuation

Ability to:
*Understand and apply written and verbal instructions; Communicate to others in a positive and effective manner
*Observe, recognize, and report abnormal child behavior
*Perform CPR and basic first aid treatment (will train upon hiring)
*Provide total and physical care for the children

COMMENTS:
Hours – 9:00AM-2:00PM Monday-Friday. (30 hours per week). Involves working with a group of five one-year old children. 20 hours of annual staff training is required; CPR certification and basic first aid training available upon hiring.

BHSU Little Jackets Learning Center is licensed through the SD department of Social Services. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a background investigation which includes a child abuse background check and DCI screening.
