The Laboratory of Dr. Adam Hoppe and the multidisciplinary BioSystems Networks and Translational Research center (BioSNTR) is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I to work on high content image analysis. We use state-of-the-art microscopy techniques and cellular and animal models to answer pressing biological questions in cell biology and immunology. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in image analysis and image informatics with excellent communication and organizational skills. Additional responsibilities may include supervision of undergraduate research projects, laboratory management, and work with information technology for implementation of high-performance computing approaches and data storage.

- Performs data analysis on image data from various sources:
o High-content microscopy
o 3D lattice light sheet microscopy and confocal microscopy
o Multiphoton microscopy
- Designs, performs, documents, and interprets results of microscopy data analyses and recommends experimental modifications.
- Acquisition of experimental data and management of databases for high-content microscopy.
- Assist with laboratory operations including:
o Maintaining laboratory computers and imaging equipment
o Record-keeping
o Organization
o May oversee undergraduate research projects
- Prepares manuscripts for publication and presents data at local, regional, or national meetings

- Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related discipline such as Biochemistry or Biology with demonstrated skills in image analysis and informatics by start date.
Other requirements:
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to assist in the writing of papers and grants.
- Ability to train new graduate and undergraduate students in various image analysis and data management skills.
- Strong scientific reasoning and ability to design and execute new experimental and analysis plans to test research hypotheses.
- Experience with image data basing and storage.
- Experience with technical computing

- Experience with image segmentation, filtering, thresholding, and intensity measurements.
- Experience with machine learning approaches
- Experience with Matlab and other image analysis platforms
- Experience with optical microscopy
- Experience with high performance computing
