SDSU’s office of Grants and Contracts Administration is offering an exciting career opportunity as an Assistant Director. This is a 12 month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. This position is supervised by the Director of Grants and Contracts Administration. This posting is limited to permanent SDSU Grant and Contracts Administration employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide high level comprehensive guidance on administrative management of sponsored projects and provide backup and assistance to Director of Grants and Contracts Administration. Apply analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification and resolution of grants and contracts administration issues and provide knowledge of regulations, agency policies, precedent cases, and other requirements that affect grant and contract administration. Initiate grants, contracts, subawards and other contractual agreements including HR/FIS system set up of grants and funds to assure federal financial compliance. Train and supervise staff on post award financial activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a closely related field completed by first day of employment;
• Three or more years of grants administration experience;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
• Ability to work effectively with team members from diverse backgrounds;
• Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs.

Department Description and Cultural Expectations

South Dakota State University is the state’s largest, most comprehensive higher education institution. As South Dakota’s Morrill Act land-grant university, SDSU had a fall 2016 enrollment of 12,613 students from all 50 states and 85 countries. Students choose from 73 majors, 36 specializations, 75 minors, 35 master’s degree programs, 15 Ph.D. programs and two professional doctorates.
