Job Responsibilities: Install, maintain and repair campus irrigation systems. Make recommendations on future irrigation system installations. Review irrigation system project designs from outside firms to ensure it meets SDSU standards and for compatibility with current integrated systems. Maintain campus landscape, grounds, signage, parking lots and streets. Provide snow/ice removal services as well as sand and ice melt applications. Loading and moving materials such as sand, rock and dirt. Operating various types of equipment such as pay loaders, skid steers, small to large tractors, pickups with blades, dump trucks and hydrostatic lawn mowers and specialized turf equipment such as over seeders, sprayers, and aerators.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of: Irrigation installation, maintenance and repair; irrigation design; computer programs including Microsoft Excel; turf; loaders & vehicle safety; highway and vehicular laws and regulations.

Ability to: Keep accurate records and as-builts of irrigation systems; operate dump trucks, pay-loaders, mowers, skid-steers, tractors, and specialized turf and spray equipment.

Required license: Possession of Commercial Driver’s License (Class B with air brakes) and Pesticide Applicator’s License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire is required.

Comments: Previous irrigation system experience including installation, maintenance, repair, and design is preferred. Landscaping and turf maintenance experience also desired. Employee will be subject to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, follow-up and return-to-duty drug and alcohol testing. This position is classified as a Road (Hwy) Maintenance Worker. SDSU is a tobacco free environment. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
