STARTING HOURLY RATE: $13.54 – $19.21 hourly, depending upon education and experience, GF

POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to provide administrative/office support to the department head, provide support and assistance to faculty members, and provide professional customer service to students, faculty, staff and other visitors from across campus and the community. Duties will include maintaining and managing department budgets including keeping accurate and current records; assisting department head with semester schedules; providing department head support when hiring new faculty including making hotel and food arrangements, and processing reimbursements for candidates; hiring, training and supervising student employees; providing excellent customer service including answering the phone, greeting visitors, and making proper referrals as necessary; serving as a resource for students, faculty, staff and other visitors; processing travel requests and reimbursements; maintaining accurate student records; ordering supplies and other department needs using state guidelines; managing the department office; copying, filing and processing mail; and other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:
•English, including grammar, spelling and punctuation;
•modern office equipment practices and procedures;
•basic bookkeeping;
•computer software applications including Microsoft Office products.

Ability to:
•communicate information clearly and concisely in person and/or on the telephone, exercising tact, patience, discretion and professional demeanor;
•establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships, interacting in a supportive manner with faculty, staff, students and visitors;
•read, comprehend, gather, prepare and summarize data from a variety of sources;
•type accurately, be detail orientated, handle multiple tasks, prioritize accordingly and meet strict deadlines;
•lift and carry boxes or supplies (under 30 lbs.);
•organize and coordinate activities;
•use a computer, copy machine and other office equipment;
•keep and maintain accurate records;
•work independently and as part of a team;
•maintain confidentiality;
•provide outstanding customer service.

COMMENTS: This is a full time (August 22 through May 21) and part-time (approximately 20 hours per week, May 22 through August 21), benefited position. Valid driver’s license is required.
