Department Description and Cultural Expectations

The Division of Continuing and Distance Education and Graduate School serves graduate, off-campus and distance education students interested in pursuing higher education through the University of South Dakota. The organization also provides oversight for summer school, testing, and other special programs. CDE/Graduate School has a national reach and serves students throughout the United States and internationally.

Continuing and Distance Education (CDE) has become a major contributor to USD, complimenting on-campus programs well. Off-campus and distance programs, online in particular, have experienced high demand in recent years. As a result, CDE has been characterized by significant growth.

CDE and the Graduate School work with academic units to offer educational experiences which provide true student learning and advanced knowledge and skill through high quality programs.
